Hemp fabric is made from the plant "cannabis sativa." which is also often referred to as the marijuana plant. Growing from the hemp seed into a mature plant in 90-140 days and is a high-yield crop producing 2-3 times more fibre per acre than either cotton or flax. It is the outside of the stalk, the bark fibre that is used to produce hemp textiles using extremely long fibres which are then spun into threads for use. Hemp cloth is much stronger and more versatile than other fabrics and only gets better with age, with its tensile strength being eight times that of cotton fibre.
