Rainforest for Climate

This is our promise to you:

"For every Bam shirt purchase, you will become the proud, honorary owner of 10 square metres of South American rainforest".

How does this actually work in practice?

We work in cooperation with the highly-regarded charitable organization, Rainforest Concern which oversee and independently audit our land transactions.

Therefore every garment we sell goes to finance the following:

We obtain land that is often partially forested, in order to preserve what's there and reforest areas that have been cleared.

10 Top Tips

Things you can do today to help stop global warming.  It's all about reducing our CO2 emissions.  Everyone doing a little bit makes a huge difference and actually saves you money as well.  These saved figures below are for annual usage.

  1. Replace lightbulbs with compact flourescent ones.  Saves 70kg (150 pounds) carbon dioxide per year.  And they last longer
  2. Drive less: half a kg (1 pound) for every single mile you don't drive.....  Get in the habit of walking when you can or use a bike,  Either or both will do yourself a huge favour at the same time.  Selfish altruism!  just requires a tiny push to make the habit.
  3. Recycle more. If you recycle half your waste you save over 1 tonne (2,400 pounds) of carbon dioxide
  4. keep your tyres properly inflated, improve your mileage by 3% just by doing that - and save yourself the money!
  5. Use less hot water.  Installing a low flow showerhead and washing clothes in cooler water saves half a tonne of CO2 (almost 1,000 pounds)
  6. Avoid products with excessive packaging.  The biggest power we have as consumers is to force retailers to change by voting with our feet!
  7. Reduce heating and air conditioning.  Save over a tonne of CO2 a year by chnaging the thermostat by just 2 degrees.
  8. Turn off electric devices instead of leaving them on standby.  It's a habit thing and saves tonnes of CO2 per year
  9. Plant a tree! each tree absorbs hundreds of kg of CO2 in it's lifetime, as shown above.
  10. Mention these things to people you know.  multiply awareness and slowly make ignoring these things socially unacceptable.
  11. and one for good luck, See Al Gore's film, 'An Inconvenient Truth'.  It's fascinating.
